PALE FIRE

50 min

(2016)

PALE FIRE is an evening-length dance performance inspired by Vladimir Nabokov's extraordinary poem of the same name, a humorous and heartbreaking reflection on aging and personal loss. The dance piece is a collision of my own past and present, combining the heedless, headlong energy of youth (in the person of my co-performer, the 17 year old daughter of my identical twin sister), with my own perspective as a 50 year old dancer. It looks at the passage of time, the sadness of loss and the joy of exuberant, ageless expression.
